They work as part of a team leading and managing the ward to ensure the highest standards of midwifery and obstetric-led care is provided to meet the requirements of women and their families at all times. WebIn light of these findings, we made the difficult decision to suspend the use of gas and air in the maternity unit at Basildon Hospital. This decision was made to protect our staff working on the labour ward for extended periods of time. We are following all the correct procedures and note the latest NHS guidance on this issue.
