SGLT2 inhibitors act in the proximal tubules to prevent glucose reabsorption and induce urinary glucose excretion, they have been associated with increased risk of urinary tract infection (UTI). WebDapagliflozin should be stopped in the case of recurrent or relapsing infections. Urinary Tract Infections. In clinical trials, SGLT2 inhibitors increased the rate of urinary tract infections (8.8 versus 6.1%) There was a higher risk of emergent infections in those having previous history.
